Livni mocks Barak: I can make your dream of being Education Min. come true

After Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Tuesday said he dreamed of being both prime minister and education minister, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni quipped that she might consider making half of his dream come true.

Livni is a frontrunner in the contest for the Kadima party leadership. In the event of her winning, Livni would have to then form a coalition, which could include Barak's Labor party.

The exchange came some two weeks after Barak, who is Labor Party Chairman, hinted that Livni would not be a wise choice to lead the country.

Speaking at a conference in Holon on education, Livni said: "Everyone is speaking about security, but education is also part of national security.

"Education determines how many soldiers will enlist in the Israel Defense Forces, which values they will bring with them and what sort of commanders they will be. Education will also determine whether Israel will have equal opportunities."
