An Israel Defense Forces court on Tuesday sentenced the former mayor of the northern West Bank town of Jenin, Hatam Ridah Grar to six years in prison and three years probation for ties he had with Hamas.

The court's indictment read that Grar used his authority as mayor of Jenin to provide assistance to Hamas.

On Sunday, Police shut down the offices of a central Islamic Movement sub-branch based in the northern Israeli Arab town of Umm al-Fahm, suspected of giving financial and logistical support to Hamas for their activities in Jerusalem.
