Watchdog to High Court: Order Mazuz to indict Katsav immediately
By Tomer Zarchin, Haaretz Correspondent
Tags: Moshe Katsav, Israel

The Movement for Quality Government petitioned the High Court on Monday to order Attorney General Menachem Mazuz to file an indictment against former president Moshe Katsav immediately.

The group also requested that the indictment be based on the gravest charges included in an indictment drafted before Katsav signed a plea bargain last year, from which he has subsequently withdrawn.

This draft indictment included rape charges, along with a host of lesser sexual offenses such as exploiting a superior-subordinate relationship to obtain sex. It dealt with offenses allegedly committed against five different women.

However, the indictment finally submitted as part of the plea bargain charged Katsav only with nonconsensual indecent acts against complainant A., who worked under him when he was tourism minister., sexual harassment of another woman, L., and harassing a witness.
