Gov't tries to lure Israeli construction workers to replace migrant laborers

For decades, construction in Israel has been the trade of laborers from the Palestinian Territories, or the thousands of migrant workers in Israel from Thailand, China and a slew of other developing nations.

But the government has decided it wants to change that by making the field more attractive to Israelis.

Because the government is constantly threatening the migrant worker community with mass deportation, it is simultaneously offering incentives for Israeli construction workers, to ensure building projects won't be left in the lurch should the threat come to fruition.
