Willigers aim to buy Ocif from Gaydamak at large premium
By Michael Rochvarger

How the wheel turns. The business brothers Zwi and Joseph Williger turn out to be leading a group looking at a takeover of Ocif Investments & Development from Arcadi Gaydamak.

Gaydamak confirmed on Sunday that he's looking at offers for Ocif, which price the real estate company at half a billion shekels. If so, the offers are roughly double the company's market cap at the close of trading on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange yesterday. Gaydamak said that he might sell the controlling interest and become a passive investor in the company.

The Willigers used to own the kosher-foods company Willi-Foods, which they sold to Gaydamak in June 2007 for $90 million. The Russian-Israeli businessman paid a 92% premium over Willi-Foods' market cap at the time.

Since its sale to Gaydamak, Willi-Foods' stock has lost 50% of its value, closing at NIS 122 million yesterday.

Gaydamak's spokesman refused to comment for this report. No comment could be obtained from the Williger brothers.

Meanwhile, Bank Mizrahi-Tefahot is calling in an NIS 244 million loan that he had taken to buy Ocif in the first place. His Ocif shares are backing the loan.
