Rightists launch video campaign to free Rabin killer Yigal Amir

A far right-wing group has released a video calling for the release from prison of Yigal Amir, the assassin of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.

Members of The Committee for Democracy met on Sunday at a Jerusalem hotel, and decided to produce the video as their reaction to the cabinet decision of that day which ordered the release of 200 Palestinian prisoners. The group leaders said they were also influenced by the recent release of the Lebanese terrorist Samir Kuntar and of the convicted killers of the Haifa teenager Danny Katz, who are Israeli Arabs.

The video, funded by an American millionaire, will allegedly show pictures of Danny Katz, footage from the celebrations held in Kuntar's honor upon his return to Lebanon last month, and pictures of President Shimon Peres wearing a kaffiyeh, the Palestinian headscarf.

Less than a year ago the group produced a similar video calling for Amir's release, featuring the musician Ariel Silber, right-wing activists Itamar Ben-Gvir and Baruch Marzel, and Amir's wife Larisa Trembovler.
