Iran news agency: UN nuclear inspectors to arrive Monday

Two inspectors of the United Nations nuclear watchdog will arrive in Tehran on Monday, ISNA news agency quoted Sunday an unnamed official as saying.

The inspectors are scheduled to arrive Monday to follow up last week's negotiations between International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief inspector Oli Heinonen and the head of the Iranian Atomic Organization, Gholam-Reza Aqazadeh, ISNA reported.

Tehran termed the two-day talks between Iran and the IAEA last week as "constructive" but refrained to say whether they also opened perspectives for a breakthrough in the nuclear dispute.

Iran-IAEA talks are chiefly technical and do not deal with political issues, such as whether Iran would accept the latest offer by the world powers to suspend uranium enrichment in return for political and economic incentives.

Tehran has said its nuclear programme is designed for peaceful purposes, but the United States and other Western nations want further guarantees that the Islamic state is not pursuing a secret weapons program.

Iran has still to cope with an ultimatum by world powers calling on the country to suspend uranium enrichment and avail itself of political incentives, or face further financial sanctions
