Reputed mob boss arrested over Bat Yam beach murder
By Jonathan Lis, Haaretz Correspondent
Tags: Israel, organized crime

Police arrested Itzik Abergil Thursday night on suspicion of involvement in the murder of Margarita Lautin, 31, of Yehud, who died after being mistakenly shot during a failed assassination attempt by known criminals at Bat Yam's Tobago Beach.

Abergil, known to be at the head of one of Israel's largest crime syndicates, was arrested by the Police International Investigations Unit. An investigation team had managed to gather meaningful evidence linking Abergil directly with involvement to the murder of Lautin two weeks ago, and in an assassination attempt on two members of the same organization - Motti Hassin and Rami Amira - who are also known to police.
