Ex-Gaza Strip settlers hold rally, vowing to return to their homes

At a ceremony held Wednesday to mark three years since the Gaza Disengagement, some 4,000 former residents of the Gaza Strip settlements gathered in a forest outside the Kissufim crossing to the Strip, and vowed to return to the Strip and rebuild their former homes.

During the demonstration, a Qassam rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip, landing in an open field in the Western Negev. No injuries or damages were reported.

Several other demonstrations are slated to be held in cities throughout Israel between now and the Jewish holiday of Tisha B'Av at the end of this week.

Located in the forest, an observation point afforded the demonstrators a view of where the Gaza settlement of Neve Dekalim once stood.

"The house is not far, hundreds of meters from here, and I hope that in the next year we will be in our home in Gush Katif," MK Uri Ariel (National union ? National Religious Party) said, referring to the Gush Katif settlement block that included the bulk of the Gaza settlements.

MKs who spoke at the ceremony assured those who attended that they would return to every corner of the Gaza Strip, and rebuild every settlement.

Former secretary of the Gush Katif Religious Council assured the crowd "When the IDF returns to Gaza, and sees that they are returning to stay, we will also return, as will many others to Gush Katif."
