Border cop held in Na'alin boy's death By Haaretz Correspondent and Reuters , By Jonathan Lis Police arrested a border policeman on suspicion of shooting and killing a 10-year-old boy last week during clashes at Na'alin, west of Ramallah. The trooper was questioned and released to house arrest for five days, said police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld. Advertisement Police said the fact that the boy was buried before an autopsy could be performed is making the probe difficult. However, Palestinian officials told Reuters that they had performed an autopsy, which showed the boy had been shot with live ammunition through the head at close range. A joint Israel Defense Forces and Border Police investigation found that a Border Police unit had been firing near the boy. Eyewitnesses said the boy was shot when he went to retrieve his shoe, which had fallen off when he scuffled with border policemen after a protest against the separation fence. Na'alin residents said that after the boy was shot, they saw the border policeman allegedly responsible near their homes with other troops working to restore calm. Na'alin has become a frequent site of confrontations between Israeli troops and Palestinians protesting the separation fence, which will cut through their property. The clashes took place in an area where the separation fence has been built yet, although preparatory earthworks are underway.
