VIDEO: Photojournalist reveals raucous 1950s Tel Aviv nightlife
By Haaretz Staff and Channel 10
Tags: Photography, Israel, Tel Aviv
Haaretz.com/Channel 10 daily feature for July 31, 2008.

Flamboyant photojournalist Maxim Salomon documented Israel, in particular the city of Tel Aviv, during the country's early years of statehood.

Salomon, who died in 1991, especially liked to photograph the coastal city's nightlife, in which he himself was a prominent fixture.

The pioneer photographer showed Tel Aviv life as a bubble of idleness centering around cafes and large, raucous parties.
