Senior IDF officer seriously hurt after jeep flips over in south

A senior Israel Defense Forces officer and his driver was seriously injured Wednesday, when their jeep flipped over the near the Eshkol Junction in the south.

Both casualties were evacuated by helicopter to the Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva.

Colonel Shlomi Dahan has served as the commanding officer of the IDF's southern division on the border with the Gaza Strip for nearly two years.

He has spent most of his military service in the naval commando, where he has held a number of senior positions.
