A pattern emerging in East Jerusalem? By Avi Issacharoff Tags: bulldozer attack  Ghassan Abu-Tir, 22, came from Umm Touba, a village in southeast Jerusalem that is adjacent to Sur Baher, home of Hussam Duwiyat, the terrorist who carried out the bulldozer rampage on July 2. Directly across from Umm Touba is the village of Jabal Mukkaber, where the terrorist who killed eight students at Yeshivat Mercaz Harav last March used to live. Umm Touba has several thousand residents from the Abu-Tir clan, which made headlines largely thanks to Sheikh Mohammed Abu-Tir, a Hamas parliament member now jailed in Israel. Abu-Tir's family denied the attacks were connected. Relatives and neighbors insist that Abu-Tir was involved in an accident gone-bad yesterday, and that from the moment the bulldozer he was driving hit a bus, Abu-Tir's fate was sealed. Relatives and friends told Haaretz that Abu-Tir was not religiously observant and had never been affiliated with any Palestinian organization. Adnan Abu-Tir described his nephew as "an ordinary guy, a youngster like all the youngsters," a quiet man who went to work and came home without getting into trouble.
