Soccer / Sakhnin one victory away from Deportivo By Ali Gali Bnei Sakhnin will face Macedonian side Renova tomorrow evening at the Kiryat Eliezer stadium in Haifa, in the second leg of their Intertoto Cup tie. Sakhnin won the first leg in Macedonia last weekend 2-1, with goals from Khaled Khalaila and Abed Rabbah. Sakhnin sources are confident that they can see off the Macedonians and set up a third-round clash against Spanish giants Deportivo La Coruna on July 26. Sakhnin was highly impressed by the reception the team received in Macedonia, which included traditional Moslem hospitality. In return, team bosses have invited their Macedonian guests to a special dinner in Haifa after the game. In addition, the visiting players will be given a special tour of the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Advertisement "Our players know that before they can start thinking about Deportivo, they have to get past Renova," said Sakhnin chairman Mazen Ghanaim. "It's true that we are missing some key players, but given the size of the task, the determination and will of our players, we hope to repeat last week's victory." Asked about the small squad of players at the disposal of coach Freddy David, Ghanaim said, "Bnei Sakhnin has never been in the habit of rushing into things. Last year, we were patient and saw a lot of potential players, we waited for the right players to come along and we did very well. This year, too, we will select our squad carefully and we hope to repeat last season's successes."
