IDF trains for reconquest of West Bank towns in event of Hamas coup

The shattered windows and bullet-riddled walls across Nablus this week are signs of the recent Israel Defense Forces crack down on Hamas institutions in the West Bank town.

Soldiers of the IDF's Kfir infantry brigade entered Nablus late on Tuesday as part of the move against the Hamas-affiliated organizations, through which the Palestinian militant group is funneled more than 200 million dollars a year.

his specific training exercise was for the reconquest of West Bank cities in the event of a Hamas takeover similar to its June 2007 coup against Fatah in Gaza.
