On: Americans have a favorable view of Israel, especially Republicans

This letter refers to Americans have a favorable view of Israel, especially Republicans

Dear Mr. Rosner:

I read your latest article, and I must say, I think it would behoove
you to stop focusing on Israel's favorability or non-favorability
polls, and focus on the reasons behind its declining popularity among
certain sectors of American and other societies; the occupation,
which, other than the nakba is the root of all of Israel's current
problems. The settlements which continued despite Oslo, the dirty
water the Palestinians continued to get despite Oslo, Israel never
keeping its promises to stop these settlements, it's highly unequal
treatment of Palestinian citizens of Israel (Israeli Arabs).

I know there are many great Israeli citizens out there as well - I
know some of them who live here, both Jewish and Arab, I am not
biased against individuals at all. But your government's policies
over the last 60 years, including the usurpation of Arab families'
land in the Galilee in the 1950s to make it more Jewish (at Ben
Gurion's request), the occupation, the economic starvation of Gaza,
the massacre at Jenin, the destruction of over 500 arab villages and
the resulting ethnic cleansing in 1948, has created this disaster in
Israel. As soon as the Israeli government accounts for it and
apologizes, ends the occupation through a peace treaty, stops adding
settlements in East Jerusalem, give non-Jewish citizens of Israel
equal treatment in allocation of funds, justice in the courts, jobs,
civil rights, among many other things, Israel's standing in the world
and moral rectitude will increase. Most Palestinians want peace -
the violent attacks by terrorists against Israel are the result of
years of Israeli government oppression and its resulting turn to
nihilism and religious zealotry.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Christine Moore

p.s. Why is it surprising to you that Egypt has a high favorability
rating? Despite its awful dictator, propped up as are the state of
Israel and Jordan by the United States government through OUR tax
funds, is a great, old country, rich in culture, history, with
friendly, open, hospitable people, in fact the nicest people I have
met in my travels. Americans love to travel to Egypt.
