Following in Jesus' footsteps
By Hannah Glass
Tags: Galilee, Israel travel
Relive history by retracing Jesus' journey through the scenic, unspoilt Galilee region in the north of the country.

The Jesus Trail, a private Israeli project, offers visitors to Israel an accessible 40 mile hiking path that follows Jesus' path through the Galilee designed as an alternative route to more well-known and often crowded holy sites.

The trail was created by two entrepreneurs with the aim of attracting thousands of pilgrims to the area each year.

The route begins in Nazareth, passing through various ancient sites that were central to Jesus' life and work until its final destination at the Mount of Beatitudes. Hikers have the option of returning to Nazareth via Tiberius, the Jordan River, Mount Tabor and Mount Precipice.
