Timeline
The political, diplomatic and military events before, during and after the war.

In Pictures
Images of the war, from an Israeli perspective.

Features
The battle for Jerusalem is in our hands
About one point there's no argument: On June 7, 1967, paratroops commander Motta Gur pronounced the words, "Temple Mount is in our hands." Everything else is open to dispute.

The 'gold mine' on the border
Newly released transcripts of meetings before and after the Six-Day War show a cautious, questioning prime minister facing an aggressive army.

The peace that could have been in '67
During the Six-Day War, David Kimche and Dan Bavli handed the government a document outlining two states, but the state chose to ignore it.

Opinion
An offer that cannot be refused
If Israel fails to accept 'Arab Peace Initiative,' it could lose the last chance for peace based on the two-state solution and might instead face a long bloody conflict.

What was forgotten that morning
From one war to another it is much more difficult to achieve peace today. Forty years after the Six-Day War, nearly everyone recognizes this, and many are even willing to admit that nothing good came out of the occupation.

In praise of the occupation
The occupations brought about by the 1967 war accomplished one great thing: They reunited the majority of the Palestinian people within the boundaries of their homeland.

A 40-year journey to a low point
During the 40 years since 1967 there have been ups and downs in the relations between Israel and the Palestinians. Today they are at a low point, perhaps the worst of all.

Living the lives of others
Forty years ago today was the last day the citizens of Israel were a free people in their own land. It was the last day we lived here without living other people's lives.
