High Court freezes fence construction near Budrus
By Yuval Yoaz, Haaretz Correspondent

The High Court of Justice issued an interim injunction Thursday ordering the government to halt work on a stretch of the separation fence near the West Bank village of Budrus, near the town of Modi'in, following a petition by the Association for Civil Rights in Israel.

The injunction came after the state authorities were found to have provided the court with wrong data on the extent of the damage the fence's construction would cause to the village's nearby orchards.

The court, however, allowed the security forces to continue the infrastructure work on the fence's planned route near five villages in the southern West Bank area.

The state has promised to restore the condition of the area where the fence is being built should the petition be accepted, Israel Radio reported.

The court will continue its deliberations on the petition in three months. At that point the petitioners will be allowed to propose alternative routes for the separation fence.
