Gideon Levy is only government bashing in his op-ed. He asks questions as rhetorical that have answers, and he offers no alternative.
Israel is now engaged in a premeditated response to Hamas escalation. Every action that Israel has taken is to minimize Hamas` ability to operate and minimize harm to civilians.
Israel is operating within the Geneva Conventions. Hamas isn`t.
It`s Israel`s duty to tell civilians to leave. It`s Hamas` duty to not be near civilians during a military campaign against Israel. That`s the difference between terror and a legit military operation. A military isn`t obliged to avoid civilian casualties when their opposition entrenches themselves among civilians. Israel does anyway. Going above and beyond the call of the Geneva Conventions. That`s why there is no legitimate criticism here. That`s why the UN is silent.
And Gideon, Syria is officially at war with Israel, and is harboring terrorists who have ordered the execution of Israeli civilians. So you know. |
