Still not a change in hell and I mean ANY sanctions, even a hint at such. Neither Russia nor China has anything to gain from trying to humour Bush. Au contraire, they have everything to gain from Bush having to back down and they would take great pleasure in seeing him have to do just that, without having to take responsibility for it. The G8 is coming up and Putin will host, a Putin that isn`t to happy about the EU`s attempt at entering domestic Russian energy domains, he has made that clear, a Putin that will stick to his guns when it comes to the same Russian energy politcs that he has outlined. The EU has nothing to fear from Russia as long as the EU doesn`t join the US in confronting Russia. The Chinese 100 Billion gas deal with Iran just says it all when it comes to Hu, he wants the Gas. He needs the gas and he doesn`t give a bag of beans for anything American, but consumers. The problem with diplomacy is that it has to be conducted in a diplomatic way for it to work.:-) |
