| As a supporter of a Jewish state, it is agonizing, yet I suspect that a boycott is appropriate. The colonizing mentality of Israel is anthema to any progressive thought, and lest, some apologist begin to utter the stale proposition that the occupied territories somehow belong to Israel because of a millenia old religious inscription, let us make it clear: Two peoples legitimately claim the same land. Since the present political climate does not allow for a binational state Israel must coexist with a Palestinian state in the territory presently colonized by Israel. Nothing to date seems to have persuaded Israle of this fundamental reality. Even now, the "convergence" plan allows for large swaths of the west bank to be kept by Israel. This is unacceptable. Perhaps a boycott will inform Israel that it must relinquish its hold; nothing else has worked. Two states for two nations. |
