In any nation there is a niche in the political spectrum that is reserved for the extremist xenophobe. Marzel isn`t doing anything else but corner this part of the market, and he does it quite convincing. Since Kahane we haven`t seen such a `charismatic leader` on the extreme right.
It is not these people that we should be afraid of. It is far more important how the society treats this kind of maniacs: if they are allowed to spew their venom freely, and some Israeli leaders would even express their implicit agreement with his ideas, then we should be more afraid.
If the democratic tradition of Israel is strong enough and Marzel would be indigted for this obvious criminal act, then we can relax a bit more.
So we shouldn`t mind the words of the Marzels of this world, we should mind the public prosecutors actions and the reaction of the public opinion leaders.
