Really this question is of no importance. When the big currents of history are so strong and so set, a "little" thing like a trial would not have any consequence. Germany was in a state of shock an disarray because of her defeat in WWI.The Zeitgeist of the times made it not only possible, but imperative that Hitler received a mild sentence. Had Hitler attempted the Putsch before the war,in,say 1913, or even during the war, he could have been shot by the Kaiser and that would have been the end of it. Had Hitler attempted something similar in, say, 1933, he coulda been shot, as by that time probably the weimar republic was to be stronger. The putsch and the outcome of the trial were typical symptoms of the era.
