If the parents in this court case were demanding that the rabbis recognize their child as Jewish, the rabbis would have been perfectly justified in referring them to an orthodox rabbi and telling them to come back when they had a proper conversion.
The parents weren`t asking for that. They were only asking for an education for their child. Jewish schools all over the world offer an orthodox education to explicitly christian children. There`s no reason that JFS couldn`t do the same thing. The fact that they take British tax money gives the British government the right demand that they do.
The bigots among us just got a well deserved slap in the face. |
