| President Obama needs to speak clearlly about the need for Israel to stop settling in the West Bank and to freeze the expansion of existing settlements. The suggestion that he take a lower profile is absurd; why gloss over policies that are absolutely necessary to move toward peace. All reasonable people recognize that a genuine peace will involve Israeli withdrawal from the occupied territories, a division or a sharing of Jerusalem, and Palestinians functionally withdrawing their claim to a right of return. Obama offers the best opportunity for peace that Israel has had in a long time. He is a genuine friend of Israel. |
