what I find remarkable is that people have come to accept having practically everything in their lives taxed and controlled. Sure we have a serious drought problem in this country, but is taxing the citizen on everything he/she does the answer? It will certainly stop those who less wealthy from watering their gardens, but compared to water use in industry and agriculture, private use is nebulous. The answer will only come when the de-salination plants both planned and being built come onto line. Most of my grass has died, but that is the price one pays when faced with a drought. We also have to suffer with the stench produced by the many pools of waste water built in my area. As for the Punjab, and the views of their citzenry, who cares. Maybe they should send their waste-water to Gaza to be recycled by Hamas. |
