Olmert told us at the beginning of LebanonII that he had three goals. The return of the two soldiers, the halting of Hezbollah rockets and the destruction of Hezbollah as a Political and military entity in Southern Lebanon.
Bombing infrastructure to achieve the latter is not a victory. It is a war crime, and it didn`t work did it?
The fact is Israel had to return the Lebanese prisoners that it admits to (there are several thousand missing apparently) which was the goal of Hezbollah.
So yes Israel inflicted damage on Hezbollah and the civilians of Lebanon, but to say Hezbollah lost is disingenuous.
They achieved their goals, and the International community is repairing the damage, so the cost isn`t even Hezbollah`s |
