Nobody is forcing these storeowners to keep their place kosher.
They want to keep their place kosher so that kosher observant Jews can eat there, yet it is more expensive due to the necessity of kosher supervisors. A business owner has an eye on the bottom line and cannot be trusted to ensure kashrut. In many cases the owners aren`t even observant themselves.
The Rabbanut is simply trying to alleviate the expense. In my personal opinion, I would never eat in an establishment that uses video as supervision. I don`t think it is adequate. |
