How easily you forget the days when young, impressionable youth were sent the Mapam kibbutzim and the madrichim were instructed to teach them to Atheists, yeah, it was part of the curriculum. They did it with money they recieved from the government, too.

Then too, "a few years later" the force of circumstance converted verdant fields into catering operations for weddings and bar mitzvahs. It is customary for such places to be kosher because many Israelis insist on kosher food. Other than that, many kibbutzim hire commercial caterers, most of whom are perforce kosher for economic reasons.

Police, well, now when once kibbutzim wouldn`t let the hint of Judaism inside their gates have discovered you can make money when you are . . . kosher. Funny what money can do to your convictions in the kibbutz movement.
