My father served in the polish army, my 4 uncles were in the soviet army, my then young aunts and grandparents were murdered by the Germans in Maidanek.
I have unending gratitude to the British, Candaian, Australian and Russian people for their sacrifices and perseverance against the initially unbeatablee Hitlerite-European murder machine.
The only unforgivable action, and one that does not involve me or my relatives, was the cold hearted American refusal to admit desperate fleeing Jews. and forcing them to return to europe to be anihilated by the Germans in a well known and well advertized process that had begun in 1933. That is unforgivable and unforgetable. Moreover, neither did Canada with all its vast emptiness nor any western nations.
Please comment on that, I don`t ask for any explanation of the inexplicable. but that was `western democracy, western charity, and western humanity in action. |
