| In 1991 President Bush pounded the podium and announced that he was not willing to extend any further loan guarantees to Israel until they agreed to freeze all settlements. The American people strongly backed his position on this as most Americans along with the rest of the world oppose the settlements. The settlements are illegal and this is clearly backed up in the 49th article of the 4th Geneva Convention and similarily stated in UNSC resolution 465. Though a majority of people in the U.S. support Israel`s right to exist this does not mean they support their policies towards the Palestinians and the settlements. President Obama should not give in whatsoever in his demand for a freeze on the settlements and the majority of the American people will back him on this. |
