So what? What really matters is which leader is stronger politically at home, and whether that strength is ebbing or flowing.
Despite his current high polling numbers, Mr Obama is speechifying his way through a mine-field of domestic and foreign issues - any one of which could blow his approval numbers and his power base to smithereens.
The key is that he is governing from the Left, whereas most Americans` usual political home is in the centre-right. As Bibi has already done, Obama eventually will need to tack toward the centre to stay in power - and that in turn means his Mid-East policy - so far a mushy, watery, weak, Carteresque-flavoured bowl of anti-Israel gruel - will need to be supplemented with the meat and potatoes to satisfy the hunger of those many voters looking for actions that are pro-Western, pro-democracy, pro-liberty.
Otherwise, Obama, and the Democratic Party, will be starved for victory. |
