| Obama has demanded a freeze on settlement construction. He has shown no signs of compromise on this issue. From what we know of Obama, you can bet that Obama has alternate scenarios planned and ready to go. One scenario is if Israel implements an immediate freeze on settlement construction, the other scenario is if they do not. There is no third scenario aimed at some sort of compromise. It is a yes/no question and demands a yes/no answer. If Israel accepts the freeze, it will clear the way for Obama to approach the Arabs with some degree of credibility. If Israel does not accept the freeze, it will clear the way for Obama to redefine the relationship between America and Israel. This redefinition will include actions, not only words. |
