Don`t be so sure that those of us who decry what Israel has done in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon are quiet when it comes to other atrocities in the world. Have you forgotten the marches against the Iraq war? Have you not read Amnesty and HRW reports on the atrocities in Darfur, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan etc.
Perhaps one of the reasons that Israeli activities become the focus of so many is because Israel, along with its army has set itself up as the most moral country and because it is the recipient of billions of our dollars for death dealing weaponry much of which are not supposed to be used, as they have been, against civilian populations.
When Israel continues as it does with no world condemnation other countries think they can do whatever they want with no consequences.
BTW, what is happening in the Swat Valley is an atrocity that must be laid right at the feet of the man for whom I voted, President Obama. He will not again get my vote. |
