Noam, as a father I have huge sympathy for your pain, but: 1) Israeli governments don`t really care about your son. If it`s a choice between freeing him and cosying up to the settlers, they`ll choose the settlers every time. Your son is even lower on their list of priorities than peace. 2) Hamas is not just to blame for the chaos in Gaza and it doesn`t help your son`s case pretending it is. Pal refugees were stuffed into the Gaza ghetto by Israel and Egypt and then Israel stole the best land for settlers. The Gazans fought back and Israel was finally forced to abandon Gaza, leaving behind an embittered, traumatised Palestinian population. Israel then proceeded to punish Gaza collectively because it elected Hamas. Only after that was your son captured. You would be more use to your son working for peace and reconciliation with the Pals rather than being a cheerleader for Israel`s government. |
