| For the first week of the 2006 war, the Hizbollah positions were bombed by aircraft and artillery. After this, a column of IDF infantry and armor advanced to the Hizbollah positions. In a day or two of heavy fighting, over 100 IDF men were dead and several Merkava tanks destroyed. The IDF withdrew from contact with Hizbollah and never got close to them again. The IDF were happy to continue the use of artillery and bombing with cluster bombs. An occupation may be good at occupation, but nothing else. |
