| of course you will be vilified by those who don`t want to hear the truth. The IDF of old is no longer, and it is sad. The concept of purity of arms was a noble one. The simple point that is often missed is that the IDF is configured to meet a threat that it successfully met in the years leading to 1973. The IDF would win any tank battle in the desert undoubtedly. However Israel`s enemies have picked up on this and changed the way they do business. Unfortunatly for Israel the IDF are obsessed with owning the latest shiny thing. Israel is threatened with missiles lets have an anti missile system which will shoot down missiles at three times the cost of the missile being fired syndrome. The threat to Israel has changed and the response to that threat can no longer be met purely militarily. However Israel does not possess the calibre of leader required to change Israeli thinking. Which again is sad but true. |
