One of the major factors that I have found in dealing with the education of my Israel born children, is the difficulties of homework.
Our crumbling education system relies increasingly on homework - right from Kita Alef!!
Although my spoken Hebrew is good, my literacy is more limited, and many subjects like Geometry or Tanach have me struggling with language and terminology that I`m just not equipped for.
Luckily for me, my husband is a Sabra and my children get assistance with homework from the staff of the "Moadonit" in the afternoons.
Extra help with homework for children of Olim could make a big difference for families that neither parent is a native Hebrew speaker. |
