The racism reported in this article is a disgrace to Russian Jewry, Israel and Judaism itself. The fact that Russian Jews express it in the face of "political correctness" doesn`t make the racism itself any less repulsive. One wonders if there would be so much hostility towards Obama if he was mindlessly, reflexively supportive of Israel, like Bush, no matter what.
Not the least of the tragedies in this situation, is that hostility towards Obama is going to backfire: he remains one of the most popular Presidents in American history. As he or his supporters learn of the ugly talk against him in Israel, it will be a significant loss for Israel in U.S. public opinion and in the Democratic Party. |
