| I do not agree with Mr. Ecclestone. Dictators like Hitler, Mussolini, Saddam got very bad things done. However, Turkey had Ataturk whom some describe a dictator. He got the following done: 1. Transformed an empire based on religious segregation to a secular democracy 2. Made it illegal to form random religious sects and belonging to them adopting modern science, art and way of life 3. Adopted modern garb over Arabic that was suitable for the desert including abandonment of the fez. 4. Adopted western alphabet over the Arabic characters bringing Turkey closer to the west implementing such a drastic change in 3 months. 5. Created the infrastructure and base of the current Turkish industry, trade financial system resulting the Turkish bourgeoisie . All of these in such a short time require a strong leader. I only hope that all Arab countries would have one like him and Turkey can get a second Ataturk to undo the damage that the current religious AKP has done. |
