| Many years ago, as a student in Cambridge, I was a member of group of predominantly British Jews, as well as of another club almost exclusively Israeli. The Israelis found it hilarious that the "British" thought them arrogant, rude and uncivilised. The "British" kept their distance as much as they could, not wanting to be tarred with the same brush. As neither British nor Israeli I moved between groups, marveling at cultural differences. Of course, in Britain their is a huge class difference when it comes to polite behaviour. Britain is known for football hooligans and skinheads, hardly the most polite individuals. |
