| David Ben Gurion was getting to be a grumpy old man slipping to the sidelines of Israeli politics. There was, however, a shred of truth - several - to his assertions about Begin. The one part of that statement quoted that lacked truth was the assertion that Begin was a `Hitlerist.` In his younger days he had been on the fascist fringe of the Irgun, but never an adherent of Hitler, nor an advocate of Hitler`s brand of fascism. |
