Title:religion and the military are a "dangerous" mix!

while every soldier has the right to practice his/her religious beliefs within the limitations allowed by their military service. but the military, as an entity, must always remain completely secular, and disengaged from ANY religious belief!
the "sole" function of chaplains should be none other than to tend to the spiritual needs of soldiers; and NEVER to indocrinate or to encourage, incite, or influence soldiers` views or actions in performing their duties.
whenever a military is fueled by religious fervor, it loses its objectivity, and with that; it loses its morality and its human values.
but at the same time, neither does "forcing" a soldier to attend a "recreational" function that is offensive to his/her religious beliefs.
how THAT can be perceived as something which will boost morale, is beyond comprehension!
