You can slice it any way you want but the founation and root of the Jewish People and Israel began with Avraham Avinu and later with the giving of the Torah.
The whole basis of the Jews right to Israel, whether the "State of Israel" or "Eretz Yisrael" stems from the Torah (or else it would have been established in Madagascar or some other territory).
By eliminating Torah education to these soldiers is tantamount to denying that the basis of the Jews claim to Israel is based in the Torah.
If the want to teach "Israeli History",then start at 1948 and continue. If they want to really teach these soldiers who they are then show them the beauty of Judaism- Torah,the home, Shabbat,Kashrut,family purity,the conection of the Land of Israel to the Jewish People -the aspects that kept the Jewish People alive throughout the generations. |
