The ban is ridiculous, and shows how the Melbourne Jewish Security Group is out of touch with reality. Plenty of synagogues are visible on Google street view, and of course there is the street directory and phone book for any willing terrorist.
The problem is indicative of an community organisation that is out of its depth.
We`ve had the same problems with the real Australian intelligence agencies and stupid decision-making in other cases, and their `experience` seems to have rubbed off. But it`s also reflective of induced community paranoia in one of the safest countries in the world. It`s a great pity to have a local culture that reinforces insecurity, rather than confident and intelligent alertness.
To correct the artile --most antisemitic indicidents are verbal abuse, posters, email etc, not violence. The problem of outright violence should not be exaggerated, disgraceful as such acts are. |
