Hamas took over control of the Gaza Strip from the PA via a military coup in June, 2007, and Abbas declared the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades to be an outlawed organization so there isn`t much love lost between the PA and Hamas` militant wing. Hamas considers Abbas to be an Israeli collaborator and has said so many times. They also have said that Abbas` term as President expired this Jan. and do not recognize its emergency extension for another year.
Perhaps you don`t believe the assassination plot because the PA Security Forces probably used "enhanced interrogation techniques" on the "Hamas activists" to get them to talk. Or perhaps you don`t believe it because traditionally the Palestinians have always resolved their internal political disputes peacefully. Right?
Israel is not involved in this one at all, but I could have guessed that you would figure out some way of blaming Israel for being behind the assassination plot. Nice try. |
