I believe in an environment where hostilities were perpetrated against Israel because it was Jewish, demanding recognition from the opposition of Israel`s unique character is understandable.
Furthermore, who cares if it is difficult for Arab regimes to formally accept that demand. They were the ones who convinced their populations that Israel had to be removed because it was Jewish, now is the time for them to actively turn that around.
