The peak of Jewish Republican Senators was not three but at least four.
In 1983, there were Jacob Hecht, Warren Rudman, Rudy Boschwitz and Alan Specter (who at the time was certainly a Republican). In addition, at the time there were two more Republican senators with Jewish fathers and non-Jewish mothers (Barry Goldwater and William Cohen). Cohen was raised Jewish for a time in his childhood.
So that`s either 4 Jewish Republicans at the same time, or 5 or 6 if you use real loose definitions. They outnumbered Jewish Democrats at the time, in that case. |
