You shouldn`t assume that just because the EU may pull out their ambassadors those countries and Iran will no longer do business together. EU may be dependent on Iranian oil but Iran is just as dependent on the EU for the cash. It`s a clear case of mutual dependence and there`s no way Iran would want to shun the vast sums they get from the EU.

Nations with no diplomatic relations have traded all throughout history. Two examples: Saudi Arabia refused to recognize the old Soviet Union because of their atheism but still bought arms from them. Israel and Kuwait have been covertly trading food for oil for the past 50 years.
